Horned Society Plar Rostal and Banner Bearer

Here's some progress I've made in my Greyhawk in 15mm.  Sorry for the blurry pictures but I just wanted to get some quick images.   By the way, the Bannerman is a Rebel Minis Barbarian Bannerman with a bit of procreate sculpted on to create the flag.

Grey Hawk Wars 15mm

I recently started a new project.  After letting my Hyborian stuff fall by the wayside I started another daunting task, creating the armies of Greyhawk.

I decided to start off with The Horned Society.  I just find them mysterious and interesting.  This particular miniature is supposed to be Plar Rostal the cavalry leader of The Horned Society.  There's no description of him that I can find so I'll have to use my imagination.  I figured if Warduke is a Heirarch of The Horned Society then maybe Plar Rostal would also have similar arms and armor.

The main body is a Museum Miniatures English Mounted Man at Arms and I just did a head swap with a Black Hat (Gladiator) Renaissance Italian swordsman.  I added some Pro Create for the cape, fur lining and horns.  I'm pretty happy with the results and we'll see how well it paints up.

New Vehicle For 15mm Sci-Fi

I was out shopping with my son for some Valentine's gifts and I came across this Star Wars Hot Wheels car.  I knew right away I had to have this for some 15mm Sci-Fi gaming awesomeness!  Below I have the vehicle pictured with Rebel Minis' Titan Marines but I think this would be an even better match for their Sahadeen forces.  I just didn't have any that I finished painting yet.  I could also see this as a great vehicle for any Post Apocalyptic game too.  The possibilities are endless!

Please Help Identify These Figures

I just bought these 15mm Knights from someone on Ebay and I don't know the manucaturer.  These are great miniatures and I would love to get more.  Can anyone help me out?  The markings on the bottom are MD 17 and MD 18.  Appreciate any help.

***Update the miniatures are Museum Miniatures, thanks to Dans Fantasyland's help identifying ***

Baron Samedi

Baron Samedi Marcher Baron of Muspelheim IV, leads the Black Watch Knights against the rule of Prydian.

Rumor has it that his flagship Surtur space fold system failed and ended up bouncing ship and crew through a hellish gateway.  Forever altering Samedi's body giving him the grim glowing green skull face, striking terror in his enemies.  It's also known that the Black Watch Knights that accompanied the Baron on the Surtur were forever sealed inside of their armor.  Nobody knows how they eat or live but some supernatural force has given them powers unknown to humans.

This figure was the limited Free Figure by 15mm UK promoted on the Ion Age website.  I really like the way it turned out, this is the the first time I've tried doing a glow effect on the armor.  I'm happy with how it turned out overall.

Titan Marine in Stormtrooper Colors

I got a bit side tracked from my 15mm orc warband for the moment.  I'm still working on them and will post pictures sometime soon.  I wanted to come up with a paint scheme for my 15mm Titan Marines by Rebel Minis,  that I bought at Games Plus last week.  I decided not to go the camouflage route and instead I used similar markings that the Stormtroopers (specifically Sandtroopers) had in Episode IV.  I think it fits really well, especially the orange shoulder pad.  I'm thinking about having this as a squad marking, and I'll more than likely use different colors for each squad.  I still need to come up with officer markings, possibly grey helmets for officers and maybe some emblem or marking or something.

Orc Warband Leader

This is one of Splintered Light Miniatures 15mm orc personality.  I'm using this one for a warband I'm painting up.  I'd love to do Warhammer or Mordheim in 15mm!

Mighty Armies - Aquilonia

This is my first shot at making an army for Mighty Armies, hopefully it's correct.  Aquilonia relied heavily on heavy cavalry with heavy infantry and archers on the flanks.

The Black Dragons (Cavalry) and Black Legion (Infantry) are both elite guard units so I gave them both "Disciplined" and "Fearless".   I think those are appropriate characteristics.

The Bossonian Archers were given both "Mobile" and "Long Range", I consider them more of Ranger units rather than just archers.

Aquilonia is probably the strongest army, so it looks pretty strong.  I hope I haven't over powered them too much.

Mighty Armies - Hyboria

Coming soon ...

Not an official product or anything associated with Mighty Armies or the world of Robert E. Howard. Just a fan made army list made by me for use with Rebel Minis awesome Mighty Armies miniatures battle game.  I've messed around with photoshop a bit to give my Sample Army pages the Hyborian treatment.

Khurasan "Evil Men" As Stygians

Khurasan has done it again, this time in the fantasy realm.   Along with their orcs, they've created some Evil Men.  I think I may use these as Stygians, maybe guard figures or Shemitish levy troops.  Great figures either way!

Black Raven Size Comparisons

I know some people in the past have asked about various miniature lines size comparison.  I'm just doing my part in making it a little more clear.
On the left is a stand of Splintered Light Dwarves, from the "Splintered Lands" line of miniatures.  As you can see they're a bit big and would probably fit better with true 25mm.  Still great miniatures in their own right!.
The middle is a stand of Black Raven Foundry's Wraiths and on the right are Splintered Light's orcs.  The orcs are the "Heavy Hitters" and one command figure.  These are actually a bit larger than the rank and file orcs.

The left side is a stand of Splintered Light's Arthuran Wolftail warriors and on the right is an Arthurian Warlord.

The figure on the right is an old plastic 1/72 (I think Airfix) barbarian.  I really think the classic 1/72 range which run from 20mm - 24mm are the best size fit for the Black Raven Miniatures.

Hope this helps anyone look at any of these ranges.

Splintered Light Minis Arthurians

The single figure is my "Arthur" command stand.  I love the dramatic pose and think he looks the part.
Here's a stand of Splintered Light Miniatures Romano British.  The big guy in the middle with the green cloak is Derfel Cadarn leading his Wolf Tail warriors, sporting the "Star of Powys" on their shields.  I mounted this on 60mm x 30mm to use with Dux Bellorum.

In my opinion Splintered Light has the best 15mm line of Arthurian miniatures on the market!

Army Of The Blind Dead

A while back I had bought some of Black Raven Foundry's (Old Glory 15s) Wraiths to use for Mighty Armies.  Online they looked really cool, but in person they were even better!  I didn't realized that the wraiths were actually skeletons in robes so this changed my approach for painting them.  Instead of going with the "Tolkienesque" Ringwraith look, I opted to base them on an old horror movie series that I really like "Tomb Of The Blind Dead".

I really like the way these turned out and think I captured the feel of the Undead Knights Templars (Wights Templar)  fairly well.  The miniatures themselves are a bit bigger than 15mm and I'll post some comparative pictures later.  I've also got some mounted characters and a Wraith King on a Fell Beast which I'll post later.
