Lich King - Old School Thrash Metal
In Junior High and High School I was into punk and various indie rock. Metal was okay to me but didn't really grab me, that is until I discovered Thrash! Bands like Anthrax, D.R.I., Motorhead, S.O.D., M.O.D., Overkill, Metallica (Pre-Black Album), Megadeth, Armored Saint, Nuclear Assault etc.... I liked the speed and the aggressive nature of the music of 80's thrash. I'm not a huge fan of a lot of metal today but every once in a while a band really grabs me.
Lich King is one of those bands! I'll admit at first it was about the name, but then after I gave them the chance I discovered that they are every bit as good as the thrash metal of my 80's misspent youth....Check them out!

Very nice! I have a certain soft spot for thrash, but prefer me some death/black/doom. Give lair of the Minotaur a try, might not be your kind of thing, but I think there's a couple of tracks that would appeal to you.
ReplyDeleteActually I just gave them a listen and I like them a lot! Reminds me a little of REO Speedealer, Zeke and High On Fire with a bit of Doom metal mixed in. Good Stuff!

ReplyDeleteListened to the vids--I like the music, but the vocals leave me saying meh. I've gotten over the "scream at me" vocal style. I guess I'm more into what might be called "stoner rock" that is mostly instrumentals--The Sword, Trippy Wicked & The Cosmic Children Of The Knight, Tia Carrera, Windhand, Stubb, Shebrew, Owl, Maria Isn't A Virgin Anymore, Iron Mtn, Lo-Pan, and my current fave, Red Fang.
