1st Caledonia

Along with the Fenians, members of an all Scottish regiment fighting for the Union during the American Civil war, known as the 79th Highlanders from New York, joined the Fenian Revolution. After helping to win New Erin's independence, the 79th became the 1st Caledonia regiment. Known for their blue and green tartans, the 1st Caledonia bring some of the toughest infantry to the army of New Erin.

1899 Imagi-Nation Blog

This a call to all my Imagi-Nation pals. As per a comment left by Abdul666 (comments that I just found today), we should start a collaborative blog.

I'm going to get one started soon and would like some feedback as to the name. I was thinking "God and Country" or something like that but I'm sure there are better ideas out there. Let me know!

U.S. and Britain Allies of Mars!

March 4, 1899

United States President William McKinley met with British Prime Minister Herbert Asquith to pave the way to an alliance on Mars. The relationship between the two countries have been strained as of late, due to the U.S. support of the Fenian Revolution of 1870. Talks were very successful, and both countries have vowed to become allies in the Martian venture to achieve dominance of the planet.

Later this week both leaders plan on meeting with French Prime Minister Charles Dupuy in creating a triumvirate of nations. French forces of the Legion Extraterrestriale have been commencing guerrilla raids on German and Italian supply routes.

Queen Victoria made a rare appearance after the talks and gave her royal blessing on the new pact.

Fenians?

Just an idea, these are Wargames Foundry American Civil War miniatures. Although, I think I'm going to go with black for the trousers.

Roughriders of Mars

After capturing the German Feldpost of the Großdeutschland Marskriegsmarine, American forces discover that what they thought was a mountain is a mysterious Sphinx-like faced carved onto the surface of Mars. After the area is secure and fortified archaeologists will be brought to the site for further examination.

New Erin

Éirí Amach na bhFiann (Fenian Revolution) was successful, and New Erin (formerly New Brunswick) was established in 1870. It has since become an U.S. protectorate but still retains the autonomy of an independent country.

The Canadian border still sees some skirmishes between the army of New Erin and the British but England is losing interest as it's turning it's eye towards Mars.

I'm ruminating about what their uniforms should look like. I think that I'm just going to use U.S. Military style uniforms only with green hat's and jackets, and black pants- just some thoughts.

Army of Ireland

A few years ago I came across an article on Historynet.com on the Fenian raids in Canada. An Irish-American brigade invaded Canada in hopes of creating a free Irish state. Sometimes truth is stranger than fiction!

Since reading this article I haven't been able to find much else on the subject...until now! Fiery Dragon has created a boardgame on the subject! Check it out here!



This is just screaming "Here's an idea for some Victorian/Sci-Fi/Colonial gaming ideas!"

Col. Roosevelt and the Roughriders of Mars

In 1899 the Aethership "The Maine II" is destroyed in Mars' orbit and all 266 men aboard were killed. With Spain now militarily and politically irrelevant, the U.S. turns it's eye towards the new unified Germany and it's "Iron Chancellor" Otto Von Bismarck.

President McKinley invokes the Monroe doctrine again and Col. Roosevelt and his Rough Riders board the Aethership "Stalwart" and head to Mars.

"Bully for American martial ingenuity and down with the belligerent Hun! Their Krupps weaponry are no match for a Hotchkiss-Jorgensen!" "This will be a splendid little war!" - Col. Theodore Roosevelt

And they charged the Martian sepoy line crying, "Remember the Maine II!"
