Yeah, I've played 4E. 3E still felt like D&D to me, just with lots of annoying bells and whistles.
4E feels like another game entirely. It's way too different for me to really consider it the same game as OD&D, AD&D, Classic D&D, and d20 D&D. It really went out there with its mechanics and play style and crossed that invisible line in my mind.
Too bad 'ze game deed not remain ze same.' IMO, anyway.
