Mongoose: Living Traveller Campaign

Mongoose publishing is now starting a Living Traveller campaign! What's that, you ask. Well read this from the Mongoose website!

So, what is a Mongoose Living Campaign?

Imagine playing in an ongoing, growing multi-player campaign, where everyone and anyone can affect the plot line influence the story arc. The Mongoose Living Campaign lets players build and advance their own characters, develop their own personalities, and forge their own relationships.

But the Golden Rule is to have FUN!

Launching in the summer of 2010 and running at events around the world, you can participate in the Mongoose Living Campaigns environment, starting with Mongoose Living Glorantha (utilising RuneQuest II) and Mongoose Living Traveller.

Using the Mongoose Living Campaign rules, you will be able to create characters who could earn
titles, destroy evil, save worlds, gain new items, learn new skills, earn the respect of fellow gamers, and generally enjoy yourself.

Mongoose Living Campaigns are a shared campaign setting with a set of rules for the each specific campaign that govern how to build and advance characters as well as how the campaign will handle the rules elements of the setting.

While you can join in with many Mongoose Living Campaign events around the world, you are also free to play at your local club, games store, or even in the comfort of your own home – these games are just as valid as those run at conventions! Simply download the campaign documents you need, and run any of the scenarios for your players. They will still be able to take the characters they created with you to a convention and use them in the Mongoose Living Campaign games being held there!

This is an awesome idea, I can't wait to get started. I was a fan of Traveller when I was in high school. I had a box set (the starter set) and loved it. I currently have the Mongoose edition and it pretty much seems to be the same game. I can't see too many differences, but it seems like they've done a great job with it. I like that they're doing what TSR did with Living Greyhawk!

It looks like it will focus on the Third Imperium setting, which depending on who you talk to could either good or bad. I don't really have any strong feelings one way or another. I like the idea of coming up with my own world, but at the same time that gets hard to do when you are running several games. Either way it looks like a great time!

Keep the Traveller alive and keep Rocking & Roleplaying!
