Here's a mini I did a while back but just didn't have time to take pictures of. I wanted to do a mini of young Conan to go along with my Crusader Miniatures dark age irish miniatures (which I was using for Cimmerians). I decided to use Wargames Factory's Numidian bodies mixed with ancient Germans arms, head, shield and sword. Then I used some Pro-Create to make the cape and the hair.
I wanted him to look like a basic rank and file character, but still very Conan like. So I gave him plain, drab colored clothing that a Cimmerian tribesman would probably have worn. After all, he didn't become a king until his late 40's.
I think it turned out pretty decently.

Royal Armies of the Hyborean Age: Robert E. Howard's description of Shemites
Here's an excerpt from "A Witch Shall Be Born":
"That Smile was on the lips of Constantius at that very moment. He sat his horse among a cluster of his men -- thick-bodied Shemites with curled Blue-black beards and hooked noses; the low-swinging sun struck glints from their peaked helmets and the silvered scales of their coselets."
I haven't found a lot of descriptions of the armies of Shem, but I'll post more as I come across them. It seems that the Shemites are a cross between semitic nations and some mediterranean cultures from the bronze age. In my opinion, ancient Assyrians work really well for Shemites.
Although Assyrians used chariots in their cavalry, I don't believe there is any descriptions of the Shemites using chariots.

Royal Armies of the Hyborean Age: Knights of Poitain
I'm considering on using Sarmatians for the Knights of Poitain. Sarmatians were supposedly the inspiration for King Arthur's Knights of the Round Table. So why not Poitainian Knights as well, after all they do make up most of the Aquilonian Cavalry.
Here are some decent images of Sarmatian knights.
This last image is of Scythians, but I think the would fill in nicely for infantry!
Here are some Old Glory Sarmatians. They don't have shields so I'll probably have to make some, I've heard that nail heads work decently as shields.
That's all for now. Cheers!
